Sailor’s Valentine Christmas Ornaments

In this workshop, participants will learn about the historic art of Sailor’s Valentines and will create two small ornaments in the style of a Sailor’s Valentine. Each ornament will be crafted on a 3.5” wood slice painted gold on both sides. The instructor will have a variety of sample design ideas and will demonstrate how to create shell flowers and other effects for the design. All materials and supplies will be provided.

These ornaments make wonderful holiday gifts or beachy decorations for your tree!

Kim Brown is a Lewes-based artist who is best known for her work creating Sailor’s Valentines, which are intricate mosaics made from tiny seashells. She also engages in other forms of shell and sea glass art and loves to paint, as well.
