There’s something quietly magical about a bonsai tree. In just a few inches of trunk and branch, you’ll find decades of patience, artistry, and care — and we were thrilled to share that magic with the team at CoastLife, who visited Inland Bays Garden Center for a special feature that aired on August 28.

In their video feature, “The Art of Bonsai with the Inland Bays Garden Center,” host Kendall Gordon met with members of our local Bonsai Club to explore what makes this ancient art form so captivating.

More Than a Plant in a Pot

As the club members beautifully explained, bonsai is “much more than simply growing a plant in a small pot.” It’s a living art — one that asks for patience and rewards it in kind. Enthusiasts often care for a single tree for years, even decades, shaping and tending it as the relationship between grower and tree deepens over time. Every wire, every careful trim, every season of growth is part of an ongoing conversation between the artist and the living thing in their care.

That blend of horticultural skill and artistic expression is exactly why we love hosting our Bonsai Club here. It reflects everything we believe in: that gardening is as much about connection and creativity as it is about the plants themselves.
